Mapped out in a span of 100 years, the historical fiction, and visionary fiction explores metaphysical themes, based in different historical settings, cultures, time lines, time frames and cultures.
Most only know of the war that took place in Vietnam. In truth, the most occult story hidden from the world is yet to be revealed.
During the Vietnam War in the 1960s, a spirit appeared in the crowded streets of Saigon—a demonic figure not of this earth who caused mass chaos in Vietnam’s capital.
A recent college graduate, and rookie journalist, is forced to accept the assignment nobody dares to tackle. The Legend of Chuyen ma, a mythical tale of a spirit that haunts Vietnam, was buried years ago. The local Vietnamese vowed never to uncover what was hidden, but Tom is on a mission to track down the spirit for the Alcott Journal, but he manages to also encounter Vietnam’s post-war culture, his past life, spirits from another realm and his ultimate destiny. The spirit he finds is far more disturbing than his darkest imagination could have summoned. Inevitably, Tom will have to test his true self to complete this mission. That is, if he can survive…

Refreshing story. I am usually more of a chick lit or romance type of person. This is one of the few paranormals I’ve read. This is a really big change of topic. I enjoyed the story. But for a paranormal, I expected this to give me the spine-chilling and scared out of my wits kinda sensation (which is sort of why I stay away from these)…which I did not get. I still enjoyed the plot, but that mood was missing. Furthermore I think if this was written in third person, it would have really got that effect on me.
This is the story of an American reporter who goes to Vietnam in search of a story, about a legendary beast. Instead he finds more than he bargained for.
Hope this is not a spoiler, but this has a HEA.

ghost stories Maqui of Saigon A Legendary Spirit from Vietnam edition by Alexander Shin David Norris September Taylor Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
2 stars seems right, some very interesting information about viet nam , after our war with. story was quite confusing & hard to follow, the authors use of starting a word on 1line & just continuing on next line took some getting used
to. The book was fascinating and scary I guess I liked it.3stars
The novel really did truncate in style and the reader became distant of what the characters were doing at the most climactic moment. If the writing had stayed as strong throughout the entire work, I think the novel would have fared much better. This is the one you must take till you finish and still want more of these characters, make this the one you download or buy the book, it is one you won't to pass up on!!!
I have always been a big fan of scary and paranormal stories. I love reading and watching movies on this genre. This book is so incredible. The author had a creative mind and very artistic. The stories are really interesting, thrilling, intense and very scary at the same time. The contents were clear and transition of the stories are great. It's the type of of stories that will give you goosebumps
This horror book is by far one of the best contemporary horror book I read! I love the twists and turns of the book and just the whole concept of it. I rarely see a book from Veitnam, and this book combined fiction and non-fiction to produce a logical plot. I love to read more of this kind of book in the future.
